The story begins with a young man, Dipus, who returns to his isolated village in Appalachia in the late 1960s after a 12 year absence and meets a young attractive ethnologist from up north. This seemingly conventional plot gradually takes an unexpected turn as a deep, intricate, peculiar and even shameful web of relationships between various people in this small community gradually surface, bringing the viewer into a world touching on themes such as tradition and it’s disappearance during that period, self hate, local superstition, overwhelming passion and witchcraft
